FACULTY POSITION

Description of Duties

The State University of New York (SUNY) at Canton invites qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position in the Nursing Department, to begin September 2021. The Department of Nursing has a practical nursing certificate program, an AAS nursing program, an RN-BS online program, and a dual-degree (AAS/BS) program. All of these programs are ACEN accredited. Salary is commensurate with experience.  Excellent benefits and a great work environment.

 

Responsibilities

Conduct didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction; plan and participate in program, department, college and university activities; prepare instructional and learning guides for courses; evaluate students’ comprehension of didactic, laboratory and clinical instruction using criterion referenced methods of evaluation; participate in curriculum development and revision; participate in student and program assessment; maintain clinical expertise; participate in scholarly activity, university and community service. Voluntary summer or winter contracts may be available. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship.

Qualifications

Required: Master’s Degree in Nursing. Must be eligible for or licensed as a registered nurse in New York State. Must have a minimum of two years nursing experience, preferably within the past five years.

Preferred: A terminal degree in nursing or related field from a regionally accredited institution is preferred. Preferred candidates will have prior college level teaching experience in either the face-to-face or online environment. Expertise in fundamentals of nursing, mental health or maternal newborn nursing, pharmacology and medical surgical nursing.

Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
