Description of Duties

The Canino School of Engineering Technology at SUNY Canton invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Civil and Environmental Engineering Technology starting Fall 2021 semester. The intended rank is Assistant Professor other ranks considered.


The successful candidate will teach and advise students in the Civil Engineering Technology A.A.S. and Civil & Environmental Engineering Technology B.Tech. programs. The position will serve the needs of multiple programs, including Mechanical Engineering Technology, Engineering Science, and Mechatronics. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach lectures and labs (face-to-face, online) in Statics and Strength of Materials, Surveying, Hydraulics, Soils, and electives in transportation, construction, and geotechnical courses. Other responsibilities include the recruitment and retention of students, participation in program/course development and the formal assessment of student learning, development of a program of scholarship, and involvement in faculty committees and other campus service.


Required Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications: A doctoral degree in engineering or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution. A professional engineering license. Strong skills in engineering applications, a demonstrated work history in engineering-related jobs.


Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
