Symposium on Natural Medicine Arrives April 28 at SUNY Canton
SUNY Canton and the Northern New York Chapter of the American Chemical Society will present the second annual Symposium on Natural Medicines from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (April 28) in Payson Hall Room 219.
Presentations include two sessions with natural medicine experts. Community Health Educator Paula Youmell, a registered nurse from Wise Woman Nurse and a 1985 SUNY Canton graduate, will be presenting on the rejuvenating and disease preventing properties of whole foods and common herbs. Aswini Pai, Ph.D., an ethnobotanist and plant ecologist from St. Lawrence University, will be taking a look at the exchange of traditional and new age herbal medicine.
There will also be an herbal medicine trivia game and activities to accompany each lecture.
Nature’s Storehouse has cosponsored the symposium. The Canton business donated herbs for one of the presentations and prizes for the trivia challenge.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact SUNY Canton Instructor Erica M. Sharpe by email, firstname.lastname@example.org.
