Renowned Author, Civil Rights Advocate Dr. Carol Anderson to Discuss Voter Suppression Oct. 30
The Associated Colleges of the St. Lawrence Valley will host a virtual discussion with one of the leading experts on race, justice and equality in the U.S.
Author and historian Dr. Carol Anderson will speak virtually at noon, Friday, Oct. 30. Her presentation is titled “One Person, No Vote: How Voter Suppression is Destroying Our Democracy,” which is also the title of her 2018 book. The event is free and open to all faculty, staff and students.
Anderson is also the author of the critically-acclaimed and New York Times bestseller “White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide,” as well as “Eyes Off the Prize: The United Nations and the African-American Struggle for Human Rights, 1944-1955,” which was awarded both the Gustavus Myers and Myrna Bernath Book Awards. Her book “Bourgeois Radicals: The NAACP and the Struggle for Colonial Liberation, 1941-1960” was published in 2014.
Anderson is Chair of African American Studies at Emory University, and her research has earned fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies, the Ford Foundation, National Humanities Center, Harvard University, and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
She has appeared on NPR, PBS, the CBC and “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.”
