Abby Seaman

Abby Seaman of Penfield started skating at the age of 4. She is now a goalie on the Kangaroos women’s hockey team and majoring in Sports Management with a minor in Marketing.
“I choose SUNY Canton because the class sizes allow me to get the most out of my education along with being able to continue playing hockey,” Abby said. “The small classes allow me to connect with my professors and classmates on a deeper level and the hockey team felt like family since I stepped on campus.”
She said her favorite faculty members were Professor Dr. Diane Para and Assistant Professor Dr. Matthew Metcalf because they are always willing to help her.
“The biggest thing I have learned since coming to SUNY Canton is that the relationships you build and the opportunities you take are just as important if not more important as the classes you attend,” she said. “Building relationships and taking advantage of opportunities are only going to help in the long run.”
After she graduates in May 2027, she wants to pursue a career in sports because it is what she is passionate about. “I really would like to be a part of hockey after I’m finished playing competitively.”
Abby is the new Presidential intern in the Public Relations Office and will be writing #peoplelikeme articles, in addition to assisting with the College’s marketing and communications campaigns.
