Hayden Brimelow

Hayden Brimelow

Hayden Brimelow is an international student from Durban, South Africa, who has wanted to study abroad in the U.S. since he was in 10th grade. He is a midfielder for the Kangaroos men’s soccer team and majors in Finance. Hayden was also a camp counselor for the College and worked with hundreds of young children over the summer.

“Being a camp counselor was a fun experience for me; I personally learned a lot from the camps,” he said. “It was really cool being able to help kids come out of their comfort zone, whether it was trying something they were nervous or afraid of, or just trying to make a new friend.”

He came to SUNY Canton because he said it allowed him to push himself beyond the junior college level in soccer and to gain a good education.

Hayden enjoys his finance classes and likes the applied learning approaches his faculty members demonstrate in class.

“When learning about various investment types and strategies for investing, we were given access to a paper-trading website that mimicked the livestock market so we could gain experience and practice,” he said. “I thought that was really cool.”

He also said he enjoys classes outside of his major with Social Sciences Lecturer Dr. Daniel McLane because he makes classes very enjoyable.

Hayden plans to find a job in the finance field after he graduates in May 2026.
