David Jones of Schenectady is finding his own voice and language in SUNY Canton’s Digital Communications and Storytelling program.
He said he chose SUNY Canton for the college’s unique majors.
“I enjoy the different forms of communications available through text-based websites or stories in games,” David said. “Everything has a language if you’re there to listen.”
David’s favorite class so far has been Acting and Improvisation with Associate Professor Sean O’Brien, who teaches in the School of Business and Liberal Arts. “It’s a very niche class that many people do not know about,” he said. “It taught me more about being vocal and active through memorization and public speaking.”
He said he’s reviewed games and made websites through classes in his major. David has just begun a Presidential Internship in the SUNY Canton Public Relations office, where he will be using his creativity to help tell digital stories about the college through video.
When asked about his favorite faculty or staff member, he replied, “There have been so many people who have been kind to me that it’s hard for me to choose one person. They’ve all done a lot for me in the years, and I’m grateful to all of them.”
He is an Orientation Leader and actively participates in student life activities. As the President of the student-run Music Club, David has participated in open mic nights and hosted the “Canton’s Got Talent” competition.
David graduates in 2027 and plans to pursue a career in marketing or video content creation.
