Lionna Patrick

Lionna Patrick holds a black and white cat in the Vet Tech lab.

Lionna Patrick from Queensbury's lifelong love of animals inspired her education. She is now a senior in the Veterinary Science Technology Program.

“From a young age, I have always been passionate about animals and knew I wanted to work with them,” she said. “I was lucky figuring this out so early on and found the SUNY Canton Veterinary Technician Program in my freshman year of high school. This program has given me the opportunity to do what I genuinely love to do-caring for animals of all species.”

Lionna’s favorite class is Radiology. She also enjoys caring for shelter animals and visiting farms.

Her favorite faculty member is Dr. Wendy Kuceyeski. “She is a great instructor who keeps the class engaged with her humorous personality and knowledge,” Lionna said.

Lionna noted that the biggest thing she learned at college can also serve as advice for life. She said, “Mistakes are steppingstones; take a break, a breath, and keep trying. Never doubt yourself.”

After graduation in May 2026, she plans to work for a local veterinary clinic or hospital. When an opportunity arises, she wants to focus more on radiology.
