Hope Aniceto

Hope Aniceto

When Hope Aniceto left Bolingbrook, Illinois, for college, she wasn’t just joining a basketball team; she was learning how to navigate life 12 hours from home. She is a graduating senior who played guard on the SUNY Canton women’s basketball team and is a Sports Management Major.

“Being 12 hours away from my family, fresh out of high school, is a big adjustment,” she said. “I had to make sure to get my schoolwork done even when we have three games a week and practice every day.”

Her favorite faculty member is Assistant Professor Dr. Matthew Metcalf because he made classes fun. Her favorite class is Media and Broadcasting with Dr. Metcalf because it was very hands-on.

“I picked Sports Management because I knew I wanted to stay connected to basketball even after I was done playing,” she said. “I love the game too much to move on from it.”

Hope finished her senior year with 245 points and 63 made three-pointers. She finishes her remarkable four-year career as the D-III era program leader in career points (1,268), career made threes (291), career three-point % (33.4%), career games played (106), single-season made threes (92) and single-game made threes (10).

After graduation in May 2026, she plans to get a full-time job back home in a field related to her major or pursue a master’s degree.
