Brooklyn native Tyshawn Haynes came to SUNY Canton seeking new experiences and to pursue his passion for snowboarding. He is majoring in Esports Management with a minor in accounting.

He picked his major because of his deep interest in video games and competition.

“The most unique experience I have had in my major was being able to put on a charity event my sophomore year,” he said. “We put on a multi-game stream featuring Valorant, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. We raised a little over $1,000 for the charity Doctors Without Borders.”

Tyshan also works in the Student Activities, Involvement, Leadership (SAIL) office. “Being a part of the SAIL office has brought me many friends and an experience that I find to be invaluable for my career moving forward,” he said.

“My biggest takeaway from SUNY Canton is that things happen in the most unexpected ways and places and just go through life living every day without regrets,” said Tyshawn.

After graduating in May 2026, he wants to work at SUNY Canton, become an advisor for Delta Omega Epsilon Fraternity, and support the College Activities Board.
