Cal Branchaud

Cal Branchaud of Lake Placid is majoring in Mechanical Engineering and runs for the SUNY Canton men’s cross country team.

"I chose SUNY Canton because of the affordability, the hands-on engineering programs, and how close it is to Lake Placid,” he said. “A unique experience I've had in my major is being able to manufacture a C-clamp during my first semester in my manufacturing processes lab.”

Calvin’s favorite class is Fluid Mechanics, and his favorite instructor is Associate Professor Dr. Lucas Craig. Since coming to SUNY Canton, he has learned more about himself, including how he learns best.

His favorite parts of being on the cross-country team are seeing his personal improvement, spending time with his teammates, and participating in fun preseason activities.

Following graduation in May 2029, he would like to come back to SUNY Canton to earn an associate degree in Automotive Technology. “I’m really fascinated by performance cars and want to be a part of a team that's in a race to break records for speed and horsepower,” he said.
