Ellie Ware
Ellie Ware of Massena decided to become an Applied Psychology major because she was inspired by a high school counselor’s kindness and support.
“I chose SUNY Canton because of the environment,” she said. “The warm, welcoming energy the campus brings is incomparable to any other campus. The professors are understanding, passionate, and knowledgeable. The smaller class sizes allow staff and students to get to know one another and form lasting bonds truly.”
Ellie’s favorite class is Mental Health Practice with Assistant Professor Lynn Higman.
“She makes continuing my education enjoyable while creating a supportive environment where I feel encouraged, understood, and motivated to succeed,” she said. “Her kindness and dedication to her students make a positive difference in my educational experience.”
Balancing her studies while working full-time as a substitute teacher has strengthened her time management, organization, and ability to adapt to new challenges. Through this experience, she has grown in confidence and independence while remaining committed to her education and future goals.
After graduation in May 2028, she plans to earn her Master of Education in School Counseling.
