SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy and the college’s academic community will be welcoming approximately 800 first-year students to SUNY Canton at the College’s Opening Convocation at 11:30 a.m. August 27 on the Roselle Academic Plaza.
“The celebration of Opening Convocation allows us to happily observe the start of the academic year with all the growth and great things that it promises,” Kennedy said. “This is the college’s 101st year of students beginning the education that will lead them to a career.”
The college also extends a warm invitation to parents, alumni, friends, and community members. At the conclusion of the ceremonies, there will be a campus-wide picnic.
If the weather is inclement the day of the event, all festivities will be held in Chaney Dining Center.
Opening Convocation is designed as an opportunity to convey to students the significance of their educational endeavor and the commitment of the university to support them in their achievement of this goal. It also serves to help students bond with the community that will be their home for the duration of their education.
