Legal Studies - Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track)

Description of Duties

The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton and the Business Department invites qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor faculty position in Legal Studies, beginning September 1, 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Teach face-to-face, online and flex classes in a diverse set of courses in the Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies.
  • Develop business courses for online delivery.
  • Advise currently enrolled B.S. Legal Studies degree students.
  • Participate in faculty committees and other activities related to university service.
  • Continually develop and improve skills through professional development.
  • Focus on research and publishing in leading academic journals and/or top conference proceedings.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A Juris Doctor degree in addition to teaching experience (including graduate-level Teaching Assistantship) is required.
  • Faculty will be expected to engage and be proficient in online course delivery, program and curriculum development and assessment, academic mentoring, scholarly activity, and institutional service.
  • Online and in-person teaching is expected.

Preferred:

  • Previous teaching of college law-related courses, admission to state bar, and experience practicing law are preferred.

Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
