Q: How do I get help for technical issues?

A:

SUNY Canton Information Services Help Desk hours are:

Monday through Thursday - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm EST
Friday - 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Q: What is my NetID and password?

A: NetID formalizes what has been known generically as an individual’s “computer username” or “network account”. It is the username/password credentials used to login to a growing list of services.

Q: How do I map a network drive that I’ve been given access to?

A:

  • Click on Windows Start button and find Computer
  • Right click on Computer
  • Click Map Network Drive and the Map Network Drive dialog box will appear
  • Select unused drive letter of choice
  • In the Folder blank, type the network path, ex., \\groupfiles\drivename$
  • If desired, click Reconnect at logon
  • Click on Finish

Q: How do I add a network printer?

A:

  • Click on Windows Start button
  • Click on Devices and Printers
  • At the top of the window click Add a Printer and the Add Printer dialog box will appear
  • Click on Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer
  • Find the printer desired and select it
  • Click Next
  • Windows Printer Installation will locate the printer driver needed for your laptop/PC
  • Click on Next
  • Select Set as the default printer if desired
  • Click on Finish

If the Printer you want is not listed in the Select a printer list

  • Click on The printer that I want isn’t listed
  • Make sure the Select a shared printer by name radio button is selected
  • Type the full path of the printer you wish to add in the blank, i.e., \\printserv2\SL022P1
  • Click on Next
  • Windows Printer Installation will locate the printer driver needed for your laptop/PC
  • Select Set as default printer if desired
  • Click on Finish

Q: How do I access a shared O365 Resource?

A: This set of instructions will assist you in accessing a shared O365 mailbox and associated shared calendar (if applicable) with your SUNY Canton Webmail account.

Q: Can I connect my mobile device to Office 365?

A: Yes, Office 365 has support for many mobile operating systems. Microsoft has instructions here. You can access the same instructions from within Outlook Web Access. Click Settings and select Options. In the "shortcuts to other things you can do" section, select "Connect your mobile phone or device to your account".
