U.S. News & World Report has once again selected SUNY Canton for inclusion on the publication’s 2024 Best Online Programs list.

The recently announced rankings placed the college at 104 on its Best Online Bachelor’s Programs, in a tie with several other universities, including Old Dominion University, and Villanova University. It was selected among 1,800 institutions surveyed by the publication.

“We’re proud to receive continued recognition from U.S. News on our exceptional programs,” said SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran. “Our online offerings have positioned us well to address the needs of modern learners and those who may be returning to college to earn an advanced degree. This aligns well with our mission as an access institution that provides a quality education to students from any station in their lives.”

SUNY Canton’s most popular online program is Cybersecurity, with 259 students during the Fall 2023 semester. It is followed closely by Applied Psychology with 227 students. The explosive online growth was first spearheaded by the Healthcare Management program, which saw 225 students in the fall semester.

SUNY Canton has adjusted to the demands of students’ schedules by offering courses in a flexible, converged learning environment. Flex courses provide opportunities for students to attend class sessions in any modality they choose that day – on location, live interactive, or later. This variation in learning opportunities provides the chance for non-traditional students, students requiring accommodations, or those with challenging schedules to experience and gain the knowledge presented in a manner best fitted to their needs.

“Our faculty members are to be commended for their extensive efforts to grow high-quality state-of-the-art programs that offer a quality educational experience,” said SUNY Canton Provost Peggy A. De Cooke. “Our most popular programs present dynamic real-world content while engaging with students in teaching modalities that meet their learning and living needs – whether in online, flex or in-person classes.”

The college also picked up a nod with a 60th place ranking in the Best Online Bachelor’s Program for Veterans. SUNY Canton was the only State University of New York college and one of only three colleges in the state to be ranked in this category of nearly 100 colleges. The citation follows a Military Times Magazine highlight identifying SUNY Canton as one of the best schools in the nation for former service members in November 2023. The college had more than 150 military-connected students last semester, many of whom enrolled online.

SUNY Canton received a 106th place ranking in the Best Online Bachelor’s in Business Programs list. The college’s online programs with the School of Business and Liberal Arts include Accounting, Business Administration, Early Childhood Care and Management, Esports Management, and Management.
