Fall 2013 classes begin on ** Monday, August 26, 2013**
More details to come as we get closer to the start of the Fall 2013 semester.
Orientation is mandatory for all students who are new to SUNY Canton, even if you have attended another college before. New this year, we will be offering several options for when you can attend Orientation. Sign up for the one that most closely meets your needs.
Orientation Dates:
- August 11-13 - Early Bird Session. Space will be limited.
- August 16 - This session will be specifically for non-traditional and transfer students
- August 22-25 - Just prior to the start of the semester
The Early Bird session lets students acclimate a bit to campus and gather information while there is still time to go back home and finish getting ready! All new students are eligible to attend, not just those that plan to live on campus.
Check-in will be at 1:00pm on Sunday, August 11. Students will be staying in Mohawk hall, and not in their permanent room. Orientation sessions will continue through Tuesday the 13th at 11:00am. Meals provided will start with Sunday dinner and continue through Tuesday breakfast.
Parents who choose to accompany their student can stay in Grasse River Suites for an extra fee ($100 for two nights per person) or choose to stay in a local hotel. Linens are not provided for on-campus housing. Sorry, students will not be allowed to store items on campus for their return at the start of the semester.
Geared specifically for non-traditional (over the age of 24) and transfer students, this one day session will be packed with information. Check-in and continental breakfast will begin at 8:30am and students should plan to spend the full-day (until about 4:30pm). Lunch will also be provided. Students who are new to college and/or traditional aged students who plan to commute should plan to attend one of the other Orientation sessions.
We call this one "Opening Weekend". Students can move into their room for the semester starting at 8:00am on Thursday, August 22nd. Orientation events start at 2:00pm on that day and continue through Sunday, August 25th. We cannot provide accommodations for parents or for students who do not plan to live on campus at this session. See the Local Hotels and Restaurants for options on accommodations.
