Dining Associate (FS 3)

Description of Duties

The Dining Associate prepares and serves dining food and maintains the dining area in sanitary conditions.

Principal Duties

  1. Assures presentation of all menu items adhere to established standards.
  2. Assures all menu items are prepared according to established policies and procedures.
  3. Assures all food and other departmental supplies are ordered and received in a timely manner so adequate inventory levels are maintained to support volume or anticipated volume.
  4. Assists with the training of new employees.
  5. Assures menu items are prepared in sufficient quantities to satisfy volumes.
  6. Provides services to dining customers in a friendly and efficient manner.
  7. Serves food in proper pre-determined portion sizes.
  8. Serves food that is the correct serving temperature and quality. Any substandard quality food much be brought to the attention of the dining manager and properly discarded.
  9. Sets up, maintains and breaks down salad bar.
  10. Cleans dining area including serving area continually.
  11. Cleans dining area before and after operating hours.
  12. Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash at dining register.
  13. Maintains appearance of all equipment and serving counters.

Lesser Duties

  1. Serves on committees as assigned.
  2. Performs miscellaneous job- related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.

Required Education

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Ability to read, write and speak English
  3. Must be NRA ServSafe certified within one year of employment.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Prior food service experience.

 

Position Type and Expected Schedule

Monday-Wednesday, Friday 10:00am-3:00pm, Sunday 10:00am-8:30pm

This is a part-time seasonal position (based on the academic year).
