Testing Room Policies - Test Takers

  1. You must have an appointment to take your exam.
  2. Students must schedule exams at least 48 business hours in advance. We will consider late adds provided we have the space and the exam.
  3. Students must arrive on time for their appointment. If a student arrives more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time, you will not be allowed to begin the exam.
  4. Late adds and walk ins are not guaranteed a spot in the Testing Room. Space will be prioritized for students who have a scheduled appointment. Late adds and walk ins may be required to test in the overflow area in the main SAS office suite.
  5. You will be asked to turn off all electronics (cell phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, etc.) and lock them in a Yondr pouch which will be provided to you by SAS staff. You will keep the locked Yondr pouch visible on your desk at all times. Pouches can be unlocked by SAS staff in the event of medical necessity, emergencies, and at the completion of your exam.
  6. All personal belongings will remain outside of the Testing Room. We have cubbies outside of the testing room for personal possessions. SAS staff is not responsible for loss or damage to personal items.
  7. Students are asked to bring their own testing materials. This includes but is not limited to: note or cheat sheets, if permitted, calculators, and writing utensils. The testing room will have some extra materials available by request. SAS staff will provide scrap paper, white boards, scantrons, and Blue Books, as permitted by the instructor.
  8. While our testing environment offers reduced distractions, it can never be completely distraction-free, as we are unable to control all sounds inside or outside of the testing room. You may request earplugs and/or noise-canceling headphones provided by our office to muffle sounds.
  9. Any time you leave the exam room, for any reason (i.e. bathroom) will be recorded and may be reported to your instructor. SAS staff advises that examinees attend to any personal needs prior to their exam. Leaving without permission not authorized by your instructor or the Student Accessibility Services office may result in loss of the exam and/or exam time.
  10. Please raise your hand or approach the proctor to quietly discuss any needs. Raising your voice, calling across the room, and/or asking questions aloud is never appropriate. Test-takers must speak to a proctor before exiting the office suite for any reason.
  11. The Testing Room strictly adheres to the academic integrity policies provided with your exam. Violations of this code will be reported and may face sanctions listed in the Code of Conduct.
  12. Students must adhere to all policies written within the Code of Conduct in the Student Handbook.
  13. Individuals present in the Testing Room are monitored through various methods of supervision, including video surveillance. Any record of questionable activities may be subject to review for disciplinary, safety, or procedural concerns.
  14. Test-takers disregarding center guidelines, acting suspiciously, or suspected of cheating will be reported to their instructors and may be subject to disciplinary action.
  15. If a student is observed or suspected of engaging in academic misconduct (such as looking at another paper, using unauthorized materials, or communicating) during an exam, a proctor will immediately confiscate the student's original writing instrument and replace it with an official purple pen provided by our office. The student must complete all remaining portions of the exam exclusively in purple ink.
