Description of Duties
The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton invites qualified applicants for a Full-time, Economics/Finance Assistant Professor position in the Business Department beginning September 1, 2026. This position is focused on Economics and Finance to meet the needs of an ever-changing global economic landscape.
Responsibilities
- Delivering and developing a variety of Economics and Finance (and other business) courses in the face-to-face, online, and hybrid (flex) formats.
- Advising students enrolled in the Business Department majors, guiding them through their academic and career pathways.
- Contributing to the strategic initiatives of the Business Department.
- Actively participating in faculty governance and other university service activities.
Engaging with local businesses, entrepreneurs, and community organizations to create partnerships that benefit students and enhance their learning experiences.
Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Economics or Finance or equivalent.
Preferred:
- Three or more years of teaching at the college level.
- Managerial experience working in corporate finance or economic setting.
- Experience working in or with a Financial Trading Lab in an academic setting.
- Experience mentoring people in the field of finance and/or economics.
- Experience building relationships with corporate and industry partners.
Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
