SALARY RANGE:

$50,000 - $65,000

Description of Duties

The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton invites qualified applicants for a full-time Lecturer position in the Automotive Department, beginning August 24, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • An educator who is passionate about hands-on teaching and committed to student success.
  • The ideal candidate will bring professional expertise in multiple areas of HVAC service, including (but not limited to): Electrical HVAC systems, residential and commercial refrigeration, heating systems (forced air and hydronics), and plumbing systems.
  • Teach face-to-face lecture and laboratory courses – with occasional remote instruction on designated snow days.
  • Advise, mentor, and support students across a range of academic ability levels.
  • Participate in curriculum development, promote assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to department, college, and community service; including committee work and outreach.
  • Foster a learning environment that promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with faculty and industry partners to keep the curriculum aligned with current HVAC workforce needs.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in HVAC with a minimum of three years of professional HVAC industry experience; or degree equivalent with eight years of professional HVAC experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related technical discipline.
  • Prior teaching, training, or instructional experience (college, high school, or industry-based).

Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
