Description of Duties
SUNY Canton is seeking a Student Conduct Officer beginning immediately.
Responsibilities
Responsible for assisting in the administration of the judicial process on campus including meeting with students to address violations of the Student Code of Conduct and adjudicating or advising during the judicial hearing board processes.
This position may have some evening and weekend hours as well as required regular emergency contact duties.
Specific Duties:
- Maintain and enforce the Student Code of Conduct.
- Serve as the primary student conduct officer, managing caseloads, conducting investigations, completing fact-finding, meeting with involved parties, and communicating outcomes.
- Work closely with Residence Life, Athletics, Academic Affairs, and other offices to support conduct investigations and communicate findings and decisions.
- Experience designing and delivering training to diverse campus audiences.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, along with strong organizational, time management, and collaborative abilities.
- The ideal candidate will effectively manage conflict, stress, and sensitive student information, while fostering positive and productive relationships with faculty and staff.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree and/or three to five years of professional Student Affairs or Student Conduct experience.
Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
