Description of Duties

The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton invites qualified applicants for a full-time, Management Confidential Administrative Assistant position in the Provost's Department beginning January 1, 2027.

Responsibilities

The Assistant to the Provost manages the day-to-day operations of the Provost's Office.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing confidential office management and administrative assistance to the Provost (e.g., maintaining Provost's calendar, travel arrangements, distributing correspondence and communication on their behalf).

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists with academic policy making as a member of the Provost's Cabinet and serves as secretary. Represents the Provost in appropriate committees when needed.
  • Assists in the implementation of new/revisions to curriculum and programs. Serves as campus liaison of academic information to SUNY System Administration and NYSED.
  • Coordination of purchase requisitions for the Division of Academic Affairs; maintain and track division budgets. Also tracking of the Academic Affairs equipment replacement processes and requisitioning.
  • Maintains Departmental Advisory Boards, membership expiration, new appointments and reappointments, as well as facilitate Director/Department Chair/Curriculum Coordinator/Minor Coordinator elections and appointments.
  • Coordination and tracking of faculty appointments/reappointments/promotions. Also maintain/communicate Academic Affairs professional staff's (direct reports) annual performance programs and evaluations.
  • Prepare and distribute communication regarding student academic standing information, academic appeals, Dean's List letters, academic integrity violations, academic grievances, and Student Course Comments.
  • Work with Public Relations to keep divisional information updated.
  • Any additional duties requested by the Provost.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate’s Degree

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience in Academic Affairs

Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
