Lead Programmer/Analyst

The State University of New York at Canton (Canton, NY) seeks a Lead Programmer/Analyst to work closely with functional area end users to support the College’s IT software applications through implementation, enhancement, integration, and reporting activities.

Duties include research and analysis, as well as support for and implementation of Banner-centric software solutions. Serve as primary support for the following: Enterprise System for Student Support and Retention; New Student Orientation Module; Enterprise System for Student Judicial Processing. Assist in the implementation of the following projects: Migration of Student Information Self Service system from version 8 to version 9; Chosen Name Implementation (Team); Rewrite of programs from old SQR programming language to SQL (Team); Self-Service System version 9 Training/Education (Groovy, Grails, Page Builder, Java, etc); Source Code Versioning Training and Usage. Provide support to day-to-day operations by fielding ad hoc requests from end users submitted through Help Desk. Using the workload spreadsheet as reference, organize and implement computer processes involved with the daily operations for departments administrative functions such as logging status reports, attending technical conferences, technical documentation and attending meetings. Implement various IT projects arising throughout the year. Provide satisfactory services to the campus community through implementation of automated processes.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.  1 year of programming experience at the level of an internship or equivalent, including experience in: Object Oriented Programming concepts as evidenced by experience in Java or other OOP languages; knowledge/experience with SQL; programming in a Linux/Unix environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills; customer service orientation; the ability to keep pace with modern technology; and a proactive attitude and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
