Description of Duties

The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton invites qualified applicants for multiple part-time, Workforce Instructors (Trainers) in the Workforce, Community & Industry Partnerships Department beginning January 2026.

The Canino School of Engineering Technology at SUNY Canton is seeking skilled professionals to join our pool of adjunct instructors in our workforce technology programs. This pool enables department chairs to identify and appoint qualified candidates to meet part-time teaching needs as they arise.

The opportunity is ideal for working professionals, with flexible scheduling options as many courses offered are in the late afternoon or evening. We are currently seeking multiple adjunct instructors in the following areas: Electric vehicles, Heat Pumps, EPA 608 Refrigerant Certifications, and Photovoltaic Installations.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to teach evening classes for micro credential and industrial trades by delivering course content as provided by the department.
  • Managing a lab or classroom setting.
  • Grading student work and submitting final grades.
  • Working in collaboration with full-time faculty.
  • Attend paid train the trainer sessions.
  • Teaching in any number of courses in one or more of the following areas: Electric vehicles, Heat Pumps, EPA 608 Refrigerant Certifications, and Photovoltaic Installations.
  • Participate in meetings for curriculum improvement with trainers from the college and other campuses.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Five or more years of industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching or training experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
