Commercial Trucking Career Fair at SUNY Canton, Sept. 12
SUNY Canton is seeking community members who are interested in earning a commercial driver’s license and are looking to start a driving career.
The Career Ready Education and Success Training (CREST) Center will be holding a career fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, in Halford Hall. The event will allow participants to register for upcoming training and learn about available job opportunities.
“There is a high need for drivers locally and nationwide,” said Arthur S. Garno, CREST Center Director. “We will be putting together a local certificate training program which will be offered at SUNY Canton to help train individuals for this stable, well-paying career.”
Garno said the career fair will help the college gauge interest and develop the curriculum, which is slated to begin later this fall.
Career Fair partners include the New York State Department of Labor, St. Lawrence County Economic Development Advisory Board Small Business Working Group, One Stop Shop in Canton, the St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Authority, Workforce Development Institute, St. Lawrence – Lewis BOCES and several trucking firms.
