SUNY Canton Among First in U.S. to Launch Esports Management Degree
SUNY Canton is launching an innovative new degree program that prepares students for an esports career. SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran announced the college has received final approval to offer a Bachelor of Business Administration in Esports Management beginning next fall. The degree is one of only a few of its kind in the nation, and it is the first in the SUNY system.

SUNY Canton Names New Vice President for Advancement
Tracey L. Thompson has been selected to serve as SUNY Canton’s new vice president for advancement. She will be responsible for leading advancement and alumni affairs activities and personnel, as well as developing fundraising strategies to support the college’s mission. Her appointment began August 12, 2019.

SUNY Canton will be adding two new teams to its esports lineup for the Fall 2019 semester. Esports Coordinator Charles Murray said the college received significant student interest for developing squads in “Rocket League” by Psyonix and “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege” by Ubisoft.

The SUNY Canton Steel Bridge team locked in a ninth-place finish at the 2019 American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) National Competition. SUNY Corning Community College and SUNY Canton have implemented a “1+3” program in Game Design. Students who complete the first year of the program at SUNY CCC and meet the appropriate academic requirements will be accepted into the Game Design and Development bachelor’s degree program at SUNY Canton.

Hewitt, a Legal Studies major, recently ran a college-wide donation drive to supply materials to create Heart Bags for the Congenital Heart Defect Coalition.
