As Vice President for Strategic Relations and Communications, VanderZee oversees the Center for Workforce, Community, and Industry Partnerships, Liberty Partnerships, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, the Office of Public Relations, and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC). She leads SUNY Canton's economic development, entrepreneurship, and government relations efforts, and acts as the Operations Manager for the Research Foundation at the College and the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) Officer. She also serves on several local and national non-profit boards, including the University Economic Development Association, Canton-Potsdam Hospital, the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, and Planned Parenthood of the North Country New York.

VanderZee has been serving in various capacities at SUNY Canton since 2012, including as an Adjunct Instructor, Chief of Staff, Executive Director of University Relations, and Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and Legislative Affairs.

When she’s not at work, VanderZee likes to hike in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains (she’s a certified 46er), read and listen to books, play music with her folk-Americana band Uprooted, and spend time with her husband and two teenage kids.
