Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Summer Camps
Where are the camps located?
All of the camps are located on SUNY Canton’s campus in our various labs, classrooms, and outdoor spaces. No camp activities will involve travel or leaving campus for any reason.
What are the hours for each camp?
All camps are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:00 pm of the designated week. Camp check-in is from 8:00-8:30 am and camp check out is from 3:30-4:00 pm. Camp staff will not be available for early check in or later check out, a parent/guardian or approved individual must arrive on time each day.
What is the cost of summer camps?
Each camp is $250 for the week. Lunch can also be purchased for the week for an additional $50 fee.
Do you offer discounts?
Discounts are calculated off the total price, not per camp and can be used for multiple camps and/or multiple campers.
- $25 total discount if you register by December 31st, 2025.
- $25 total discount if you purchase 2 weeks
- $50 total discount if you purchase 4 weeks
- $100 total discount if you purchase 6 weeks
Do you offer scholarships?
Yes, we offer limited scholarships thanks to charitable giving from the community. To apply, please fill out the scholarship application.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are available under the following policy:
- Cancel up to two weeks before camp starts = full refund minus a $10 non-refundable registration fee.
- Cancel within two weeks of camp starting = 50% refund.
- Cancel after camp starts = no refund.
No refunds will be given for missing individual days of a camp.
My child is not in the age groups listed. Can I still sign them up for a camp?
Our camps are specifically designed for the age groups listed. If your child is too young for these camps, we encourage you to keep us in mind for future summers! If your child is in 11th-12thgrade, please check out our Spring Break camps for that age group.
Are lunches provided at camp?
Lunches are not provided free of charge but can be purchased for the week for an additional $50 fee. Paid lunches will be provided by our campus Dining Hall and will be a bagged lunch with sandwich, snack, fruit, and juice.
What should my child bring with them for camp?
For each day of the camp, it is the parent/guardian's responsibility to provide their camper(s) with a water bottle, sunscreen, snacks, and a lunch (unless you paid for a SUNY Canton provided lunch). We will have extra water and sunscreen on hand for emergencies.
Can my child sign themselves in or out of camp?
No, a camper must always be signed in or out of camp by their parent/guardian or an approved individual (18+). If you need to add an approved individual at any time during the camp, please contact us directly at wcip@canton.edu or provide that information at camp check in or check out.
Why do you check IDs at every check in and check out?
Camp staff will check IDs every time to ensure that the adult leaving or taking a camper is a parent/guardian or an approved individual. Because different camp staff might be covering check in or check out during the week, we will ask every time even if the same adult has been checking a camper in and out all week. This is to ensure we stay consistent with our policy and prioritize the safety of all campers.
What if my child is sick during camp?
- If your child has symptoms of illness such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or rash you must keep them at home to avoid spreading the illness to other campers.
- If your child falls ill during camp, their symptoms will be assessed by camp staff and parents/guardians will be notified via phone call if their camper needs to be picked up early.
- A child who has been kept at home or sent home early due to an illness may return to camp only after being fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.
