SUNY Canton’s Spring Concert Set for Saturday, April 15
SUNY Canton’s College Activities Board is holding its spring concert featuring Grammy-nominated rapper Flo Rida this Saturday, April 15, in Roos House Convocation, Athletic and Recreation Center. The show will run from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Flo Rida’s music career has spanned more than a decade, and his 2007 breakout single “Low” featuring T-Pain was number one for 10 weeks in the U.S. It broke the record for digital download sales at the time of its release.
Local band On the Fly will be performing before the main act. The official opener is DJ vs. the Violinist. There will also be a student DJ performing.
The college has sold more than 1,000 tickets for the concert. Attendees include students from all four area colleges and local schools, graduates, and community members. General admission tickets for the show are $50 and can be purchased at www.canton.edu/tix. Tickets will also be available at the event for $75.
“While we anticipate minimal disruption, we would like to notify our close neighbors of the potential increased foot traffic and noise levels on Saturday,” said SUNY Canton Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Courtney B. Bish. “We will pay close attention to the sound levels inside and outside the venue.”
It will be the third major concert held in the Roos House. Gym Class Heroes played in 2012, and more recently, the college hosted Gunna and the City Girls in 2019. Other bands to perform in nearby Dana Hall include Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Buckcherry, Lit and A$AP Ferg.
