SUNY Canton College Foundation Funds New Initiatives
The SUNY Canton College Foundation Inc. recently provided nearly $37,000 to faculty, staff and students through the Campus Enhancement Awards program.
The competitive grants generated significant interest from members of the college community seeking to create new and innovative opportunities.
“Campus Enhancement Awards allow SUNY Canton to grow as an institution and provide unique learning experiences for students,” said Vice President for Advancement Geoffrey VanderWoude. “We rely on donations to be able to provide these opportunities, and we are extremely thankful for all donors who invest in SUNY Canton.”
Among the Fall 2025 awards were:
- An educational trip to Cornell for Veterinary Technology students
- Advocacy outreach support for Educational Opportunity Program students and staff.
- Funding for students to attend an upcoming American Concrete Institute convention.
- Support for next year’s Women in Engineering Day, an annual event held for middle and high school students.
- A day trip for Legal Studies students to the University of Buffalo School of Law.
- A large-format 3D printer for the Mechanical Engineering Technology program.
- Funding for students to attend the 2026 New York State Association for the Education of Young Children Conference.
- Mirrorless cameras for the Graphic and Multimedia Design program.
- An updated camera lens for the college’s Public Relations department.
- Blacksmithing equipment for the new college forging club.
- Funding for the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Student Steel Bridge Team.
- Support for an upcoming study abroad program.
In addition to the annual Campus Enhancement Awards, the Canton College Foundation also funds student scholarships, professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, and unique learning and research fellowships. The next scheduled fundraiser will be on Giving Tuesday, observed on Dec. 2. Donors can support these initiatives through a charitable gift.
