SUNY Canton once again earned several top-tier rankings in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Colleges publication, released this week.

The college placed 12th on the Regional Colleges (North) list, which encompasses public and private schools throughout the northeast that grant fewer than half of their degrees in liberal arts disciplines. When the publication measured SUNY Canton against its public peer institutions, the college was ranked eighth in the Top Public Schools (North) category.

In addition to being recognized for overall academic excellence, the college earned seventh place on the Best Value – Regional Colleges (North) list. The magazine also ranks schools on how well they enroll and graduate Pell grant recipients, called Social Mobility, and SUNY Canton ranked 13th in that category.

“It’s been a collective effort by the entire campus to keep us in the top tier of these rankings, and we intend to build on the hard work that has brought us here,” said President Zvi Szafran. “Our formula to develop new, in-demand programs, strengthen our already exemplary student support services, enhance retention efforts, and develop even more affordable pathways to degree completion will maintain our momentum as a premier college of technology.”

SUNY Canton continues to score high on the Best Colleges for Veterans (North), landing in fourth place this year. Well-known for its military-friendly culture, the school has recently begun a new initiative to cover college fees for active-duty, reservist and National Guard service members.

In addition to the U.S. News ranking, Forbes has named SUNY Canton’s online Emergency Management bachelor’s degree one of the best in the country. It was the only college in New York to appear on the list.
