U.S. News & World Report has just released the annual rankings, highlighting SUNY Canton’s popular online bachelor’s degrees.

The college was ranked 125th in the publication’s Best Online Bachelor’s Programs. Nearly 1,850 colleges were assessed, and 349 were included in the 2026 list. U.S. News evaluates engagement, services and technologies, faculty credentials and training, and peer assessment.

“SUNY Canton continues to strive for excellence in its online course offerings,” said SUNY Canton Provost Peggy A. De Cooke. “Since our first online classes in 1999, our college has evolved and adapted to meet modern learners where they are. It’s always gratifying when an outside agency recognizes our excellence.”

Of the nearly 1,680 undergraduate students enrolled in one of the college’s 25 online programs, approximately 1,500 are working toward an online bachelor’s degree. The most popular options in order of enrollment are Cybersecurity, Applied Psychology, Health Care Management, Forensic Criminology, and Legal Studies.

The college ranked 78th in Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans, a category within the recently released rankings. Part of SUNY Canton’s long-standing mission has been to provide support for service members and military-connected students, including priority registration, academic credit for military experience, and personalized assistance with tuition benefits. There are currently 171 military-affiliated students, and the college recently earned a "Best for Vets" ranking from Military Times Magazine.

SUNY Canton was recently named a lead participant in the SUNY Military Tuition Rate Program, which builds upon an announcement in July that the college would offer fee scholarships for active-duty, reservist, and National Guard service members beginning in the Fall 2025 semester.

Select options offered through SUNY Canton’s School of Business and Liberal Arts also received a nod in the 2026 publication. The college was ranked 125th on the Best Online Bachelor’s in Business rankings. Some of the college’s popular online programs include Management, Finance, and Early Childhood Care and Management.

“We have a very diverse group of educators who bring their unique perspectives to the online classroom,” noted Associate Professor Dawn M. Robinson, Ph.D., who serves as the Business Department chair. “Students build the fundamental professional skills necessary to join the workforce or become an entrepreneur.”
