Who We Are - Computer Information Systems Mission
The Computer Information Systems (CIS) program at SUNY Canton prepares students for success in the dynamic field of information technology, training them to play a key role in designing, supporting, and managing business-focused computer systems and empowering them to meet the evolving technology needs of today’s organizations.
The program is dedicated to achieving this mission through the following key areas:
- Providing high-quality, applied, skills-based education that equips students with essential technical competencies, including practical training in areas such as programming, databases, networking, and systems analysis.
- Developing crucial professional and foundational skills, including critical thinking, communication, social responsibility, ethical understanding, and teamwork, aligned with SUNY Canton's Institutional Student Learning Outcomes.
- Preparing graduates for immediate and impactful entry into the workforce, while also providing the necessary academic foundation for seamless transfer into relevant four-year programs, such as SUNY Canton’s Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology, supporting continued growth and lifelong learning.
- Supporting the missions of SUNY Canton and the Canino School of Engineering Technology by promoting applied learning, innovation, and student achievement.
