Advocacy

The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students is committed to advocating for students on our campus and in the community. The Dean is available to meet with students regarding any campus or community concerns and/or to assist with any needs therein.  Some of the services the Office of the Dean of Students provides regarding advocacy include:

  • Serve as a liaison between faculty/staff and students
  • Serve as a student advocate and assist other members of the faculty/staff in advocacy efforts
  • Serve as a resource to faculty, staff, and students regarding student life issues
  • Assist with student understanding of campus policies and procedures
  • Provide resources to assist with student judicial needs
  • Maintain, in conjunction with the Diversity Affairs Office and the Counseling Office, an emergency fund for immediate student needs (as applicable)
  • Support for issues or concerns within the community at large, including the towns/villages surrounding campus
  • Serve as a liaison between Provost’s Office and students regarding academic suspensions, and meets with students to explain academic suspension process and develop a plan for exiting the college
